Obituary of Raymond Vickers

VICKERS, Raymond Arthur August 8, 1932-April 6, 2016. Raymond passed away on April 6th after a short stay at Humber River Hospital. Born in Thunder Bay (Port Arthur) Ontario, Raymond was the son of Allen and Hilda (Beer) Vickers who both passed away in November 1968. Raymond attended high school in Port Arthur and was a graduate of Queen's University. Raymond was a dedicated and gifted teacher, retiring from William Lyon Mackenzie Secondary School. He touched the lives of numerous students, many who have gone on to be teachers, doctors, mentors and more. Raymond's sense of humor, love of learning and ability to connect with everyone he met endeared him to so very many people over the years. For the past several years, Raymond lived at St. Hilda's Towers in Toronto. The family would like to thank the team at St. Hilda's for their support. Raymond loved his church, St. Mary Magdalene Anglican Church, where he was an active and faithful member. Raymond will be sadly missed by his family and many friends. Lillian Scott, his true and loving friend who provided care and concern through the years. His nephew Philip Vickers (Paola), his nieces Charlene Vickers, his two great nieces, Amber and Alexandra, his sister‐in law Lynda Vickers (John Harrison), his many cousins on the West Coast and many more, too numerous to be mentioned. Friends will be received at the DIXON-GARLAND FUNERAL HOME, 166 Main Street N. (Markham Road) Markham on, Tuesday, April 12, 2016 from 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at St. Mary Magdalene Anglican Church, 477 Manning Avenue, Toronto, on Wednesday April 13 at 1 p.m. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary Magdalene's Building Fund at the above address.
