Obituary of Elizabeth Walker
Elizabeth (Betty) Walker (nee Hill) -
Passed away peacefully with family by her side on Thursday, March 3, 2016 in her 84th year, at Parkview Home in Stouffville, Ontario, where she received devoted care by staff while living with Alzheimer's disease. Betty will be forever in the hearts of her children Tom (Tarah Persaud), Mary, Jim (Carol nee Anderson), David (Connie Boudens) and her grandchildren Jason and Matthew. Betty was predeceased by her son Andrew.
Betty was born on June 15, 1932 in Unionville, Ontario, to devoted parents Alf and Eileen Hill. She was the cherished sister of Violet (Jack Steele), Anne (Charlie Douglas, deceased), David (deceased) and wife Beverly, Ruth (Tom Shultz, deceased), Patricia (Bill Todd) and Lan (Ngai Chu, deceased) and aunt of Janet, Joanne, Angela, Danny, Elizabeth, Tom, and Mary.
Betty attended the Ontario Teachers College as a single mother of five young children, a truly amazing accomplishment. She embarked on a long and fulfilling career as an educator and librarian at Walter Scott Public School in Richmond Hill. She adored her students and was thrilled to share with them her love of literature. Betty then fulfilled her ambitious goal of completing her Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Toronto, attending classes in the evenings as a part-time student while continuing to work full-time and raise a family: a tremendous source of pride and inspiration for anyone who knew her.
