KEPKA, William (Bill) George -
Passed away peacefully at Markham Stouffville Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer on January 25th, 2016 in his 85th year. Pre-deceased by his parents Harry and Pauline. Beloved husband of Josie for over 62 years. Loving father of the late Robert "Bob" (partner Kira) and Larry (Marianne). Proud grandfather of Ashley (Mike) and Alison (James) and great grandfather of Madeleine. He is survived by dear cousins Georgina (John, deceased), Richard, Rose (Claude) and Victor (Candy, deceased). Predeceased by cousins Mary (John), Rose and Stella. He will also be missed by his sister-in-law Jan (Dominic) and Rose, deceased (Bill). And his many nieces, nephews, good friends and Brother Knights. He was employed by the City of Toronto for 36 years. Grand Knight of the Markham St. Patrick's Knights of Columbus, Council # 7689 for many years where he donated his time to their many charitable events. He was elected to the Board of the Markham Stouffville Hospital for two years and was involved in the original building plans. In Toronto, he was Cubmaster in the Danforth and Woodbine area when Bob and Larry were young. In Markham, he was a coach and convener with the Markham Minor Hockey Association, when we first moved here to the town he loved.
Friends will be received at the DIXON-GARLAND FUNERAL HOME, 166 Main Street N. (Markham Road) Markham on Sunday, January 31st from 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick's Parish, 5633 Highway 7 on Monday at 11a.m. Reception will follow immediately at church. Donations may be made to ALS Canada or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
