Obituary of Dawna Kenney

Dawna Lynn Kenney (Starr) Born Feb 28 1932 Huntsville Ontario, Died Jan 2, 2016 Markham Ontario. We have all lost one of the kindest hearts in our lives! Beloved wife of the late Raymond L. Kenney. Dearly loved mother to Danny (Shirley), Michael (Lorraine), Terry (Bonnie) & John. Grandmother to Sean, Kara, Ryan, Katelyn (Justin), Shelley & Kristy. Great Grandmother to Julia and Tyler. Loved Sister to Carmen, Merle (John), Beth (deceased), Joan (Carl). Much loved Aunt to her nieces and nephews. In her youth Dawna developed a keen interest in sports. It was while attending an inter-county baseball game in Listowel Ontario that she met Raymond, a player on an out of town team. Soon Raymond was hitch hiking long distances across South Western Ontario to visit Dawna in Listowel. Dawna married Raymond when she was 20 years old. Their love grew as they made their way through 62 years of marriage. Once her 4 boys were attending school Dawna joined CIBC and built a satisfying 2nd career as a loan officer, often granting our friends their first loans. At my fathers funeral in 2014 she could be heard double-checking to ensure an old loan granted to a friend had been fully paid back. Her retirement included encouraging and loving her many grandchildren at both her much loved winter home in Pompano Beach and at her home in Unionville. At both locations she found time to rekindle a painting hobby that ranged from oil paintings on canvas through to repainting her homes.
