Obituary of Jean Vansickle

Vansickle, Jean (August 15, 1923-December 2, 2015) It is with great sadness that we announce that on December 2, 2015, in her 93rd year, mom left us to join our dad, Lincoln. She was surrounded by her family and the very caring staff of Sunrise of Unionville. She leaves behind her children, Lindee (Brian) and Bill (Nancy); her grandchildren Courtney (Adam), Brittany, Sean, Taylor and Kelsey; her great granddaughter Chloe; other extended family in Ontario and Alberta, and her friend Eileen Fielden. She was born in Cobalt, Ontario and spent her childhood in Schumacher and Timmins before marrying dad and moving to Grimsby and Simcoe for dadʼs job with the CIBC. They later bought a home in Agincourt where they resided for many years prior to moving to Markham. Mom was a strong, intelligent and creative woman who had boundless love for her family and was a constant source of support and encouragement to us. Her love surrounded every one of us, all of our lives and it will always be with us. Besides devoting her life to her family, mom loved reading, gardening, animals, baseball, knitting, sewing, crafts, black tea, desserts, shoes and the colour blue. She was an excellent cook and she baked wonderful desserts. She was the best back scratcher ever. Mom was also the first female president of the Agincourt Baseball League and was on the executive of the Scarborough Baseball Association. The family would like to extend sincere thanks and appreciation to Sunrise of Unionville where mom happily resided for the last part of her life. A very special heartfelt thank you to Hyacinth and Monique for their loving care of mom and their support of the family. In accordance with momʼs wishes there will be no funeral service. In her memory, donations may be made to the Farley Foundation or the Toronto Cat Rescue. We love you mom!
