Marie Nora Lillian Henderson (Nee Forester)

Passed away peacefully on Tuesday January 2, 2018 in her 97th year, with family at her side at the Margaret Bahen Hospice in Newmarket. Dearly beloved wife of the late Robert N. Henderson and beloved sister of the late Jean Elizabeth Henderson. Loving mother of Bob Jr. (Heather), Susan Whiteside (Jud), special grandmother to Courtney (Darren) and Jud Jr. (Kristina). Cousin to Dorothy Greenlaw of Orillia. Marie and Jean grew up on a farm in the heart of Unionville before moving to Toronto. Marie excelled at sports, especially speed skating, track and field and softball. She was also an accomplished painter. Marie was chosen “Miss Toronto 1942”. She met Bob at U of T and they married in 1946. They settled in North Toronto and in addition to raising her family, she worked as a bookkeeper for the Second Mile Club. Family and friends will cherish good memories of times together, especially in Bobcaygeon and Rosseau. We will also remember the happy moments of the ‘3’ Hendersons, completely coordinated, arriving at functions and bringing much joy, laughter and excitement to our lives. Mom enjoyed her social outings and especially her rounds of euchre and bid euchre with her many friends. Thanks to her medical staff on the 5th and 6th floors of the Southlake Regional Health Centre. Special thanks to Dr. Yuen and the staff of the Margaret Bahen Hospice. A private family service will be held at a later date.
