Leslie McIntyre Haydon

March 16, 1936 – December 24, 2017

Surrounded by his family, Leslie passed away at Markham Stouffville Hospital after a lengthy illness. Les will be missed by many for his gentle nature, kindness and resourcefulness. Beloved husband of Sophie (nee Bodanis) for 48 years. Devoted father to Philip (Cassie) and Rosemary. Predeceased by his parents Kathleen and Maxwell, sister June, brother Zane, brother-in-law Paul, and nephew Jon. Survived by sister Sue, sister-in-law Ruth, sisters Lesley (Bill), Rhonda (Robert) and brother Warren. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.

Les was born in Tasmania, Australia. After serving 17 years in the Royal Australian Air Force, he moved to Canada in 1973. He had a varied career as an electronics technician that allowed him to travel across the globe, and as a technical writer. In 1995, Les became a published author, an achievement his family is very proud of.

The family would like to express appreciation and gratitude to the staff at Union Villa nursing home and the palliative care unit at Markham Stouffville Hospital.

Visitation will be held at the DIXON-GARLAND FUNERAL HOME 166 Main Street North (Markham Road) Markham on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Memorial service will be held at Grace Anglican Church (19 Parkway Avenue, Markham) on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at 11 am. Private cremation.
