John and I shared a very similar sense of humour - to the extent that one night in my mum's (in the early 70s), we watched a "boxing" match that was SO FUNNY we both LITERALLY fell off our chairs laughing, tears in our eyes and everything! It was so memorable that 40 years later we were still talking and laughing about it! But that was John, he had such an infectious laugh that you couldn't help yourself and I'm so glad I managed to catch up with him last year in Canada.

I'm so sorry to hear of John's passing. I have many wonderful memories of his big smile and bigger laugh. He was a great support to my dad after my mum's passing and in turn to me after my dad. May your many memories be of some comfort during this most difficult time. David

John was a good brother in law. A family man, very laid back, always smiling and nothing was a problem. Martha, Greig & Ryan, May the care and love of those around you provide comfort and peace to get you through the days ahead. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

No words can describe how much I felt loved by John. My wife never had the pleasure of meeting him, but I am sure I talked her ear off with all the wonderful stories John had to share with me. I will miss him with all my heart, I felt like a son in his presence, and always felt so much respect. If i had to pick a favorite memory, it would be hard, but having John explain certain Scottish meaning's or words i didn't understand will always sit well with me. I know he would be smiling above if heard me mention that. Rest in Peace...from "ol' Mack"
