Obituary of Lawrence MacDonnell

MacDonnell, Lawrence - It is with heartfelt sadness that our family announces the passing of Lawrence MacDonnell on March 13, 2015 in his 77th year. Larry was respected as a man of integrity, discipline, passion and knowledge over his 35 year career as a English teacher and Vice Principal. A graduate of St. Michael's College, University of Toronto (BAH), U of T Faculty of Education (B. Ed) and Queen's University Faculty of Education (M. Ed), he was an inspiration to his students, colleagues, friends and family through his love of language and his romantic view of life. He was also an avid gardener, fly fisherman, sailor, private pilot, outdoorsman, war buff and crossword enthusiast. For him, life was about learning something new each day and enjoying nature to the fullest. Visitation will take place at Dixon-Garland Funeral Home, 166 Main Street N. (Markham Road) Markham, on Thursday, March 19, 2015 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Parish (5633 Highway 7, Markham) on Friday, March 20, 2015 at 11 a.m. Interment Christ the King Cemetery. If desired, a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Sunnybrook Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
