Obituary of Eileen Ashley

Ashley Shirley Eileen (Nee Luke) It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Eileen Ashley on February 22 2015.. Eileen was the loving mother of Stephen and Emily Manson (Andrew) and exceptionally proud Gram of Michael Manson. She was the best friend, wonderful wife and constant companion to David for 48 years. She will also be missed by her sisters Louise Rohde, Lorna Luke and Virginia Boone. Eileen's loss had left a huge hole in the lives of her family and many friends but we are all blessed with so many happy memories. Eileen graduated from nursing at the Wellesley Hospital and the University of Western Ontario. She spent her life improving that of others. Over the years she worked in the hospital, started a Parish Nursing program in Markham, volunteered at a hospice in Indiana, worked with Sudanese refugees and their families in a TB clinic and in the slums of Cairo, Egypt and with disadvantaged women on the edges of a favela of Sao Paulo, Brazil. On moving to Markham she became fully involved in her church by singing in the church choir, visiting shut‐ins and helping out wherever she could. Eileen enjoyed music and the theatre and was a keen bridge player. She also enjoyed travelling to exotic places around the world and, above all, family time at our cottage on Georgian Bay. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 on Wednesday, the 25th at Dixon Garland Funeral Home, 166 Main Street North, Markham ON (L3P 1Y3). Funeral Service will be held at 11 am on Thursday the 26th of February at Grace Church 19 Parkway Avenue, Markham On (L3P2E9).
