Our mother was known to many as Grace, Graziella, Mom, Mother Grace, Grandma, Grams, Zia Grace, Auntie Grace.
Whether she was your mother, grandmother, sister, cousin, family, friend, boss, neighbour, she always greeted you with a welcoming smile and hug. Her door was always open and she welcomed all family and friends unconditionally.
Anyone who knew our mother would say she was a beacon of life, a firecracker of energy and always ready to go. She loved to travel at any opportunity she got, played competitive tennis weekly, walked every weekend and went to Goodlife fitness classes when she could.
Despite our mother's active lifestyle her life was taken by a sudden heart attack at age 73. Having her own father live to age 93 and mother age 88 it was of great disbelief and shock to everyone to hear of her passing.
Upon reflecting on the type of personality that our mother had we have come to terms that if the Lord had to take her now we know she would be thankful for the quick and painless death. Our mother would never have accepted disease or potentially one day being confined to a wheelchair or old age home, she was too independent and mobile. She was not happy unless she had her freedom to do as she pleased. So we find peace in knowing that she lived her life to the fullest.
We will never fill the void that has been created by the loss of such a great woman. We look to the comfort of remembering all of her amazing qualities:
We are thankful for her generous heart, always welcoming family and friends with open arms.
We are thankful for her passion for travel and exposing us to the world through her eyes.
We are thankful for her competitive spirit teaching us that sport or game is to be played with spirit and enjoyed with an underlining spark to win.
We are thankful for her love for music! Exposing us to various musicals & opera as children. Her love for The Sound of Music movie has even been passed on to her grandchildren who loved watching it with her on numerous occaisions.
We are thankful for the loyalty to her heritage. Continuing to cook traditional dishes from the Abruzzo region and retelling stories of childhood in Roccamorice. Singing the hometown folk songs when surrounded by her family always made her light up.
We are thankful for her love of shopping. Always going above and beyond to surprise someone with the perfect gift. She found such joy in making others happy.
We are inspired by for her passion for fashion. Always sporting a new look for each event that she attended, whether a backyard party or formal event, she found just the right outfit to fit each occasion.
We are thankful that when we lost our father at such a young age we had a mother that had the courage and strength to continue to raise us to adulthood as a single mom supported by her loving and faithful parents.
We are thankful for the unconditional love and security she provided for us growing up.
We are thankful for all the joyous memories our children can reflect on of Grandma's home. Whether a family dinner in the basement, a sleepover with Grams or a pool party in the backyard, Grandma Grace had the best house! Each visit completed with a scoop of ice cream of course.
We are most thankful for her unbiased love for her grandchildren. That each and every one of them felt loved and supported by their proud grandmother who attended every activity or sport invited to. Always showing a genuine interest in their passions and milestones.
We will definitely miss you dearly mom, but we will never forget you!

My deepest sympathy to the D'Angelo Family. I am truly saddened and shocked by the news of Grace's passing. She was so full of life and always wore a smile on her face and a smile in her eyes. From the first time I met Grace, she instantly made me feel like I was part of the family...she just had that way about her - warm and welcoming, and she gave the best hugs!
