Obituary of Joan Thomas

Thomas, Joan Anne (Nee Beatty) It is with profound sadness, we announce Joan's peaceful passing at Toronto General Hospital on Monday November 10th at the age of 66. Joan was the dear daughter of Alice and the late Herbert Beatty. She leaves her loving husband Dave and children Heather David and brother Stewart of Belleville Ontario. Joan fought an epic battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. She bravely soldiered through a very difficult recovery period following double lung transplant surgery in August of 2013 which had many unexpected complications. The family has the highest praise for the unbelievable efforts of Joan's attending doctors, nurses and health care professionals that were always at her side. Joan was a creative generous person with a special affinity to needy children and animals. As an assistant special needs teacher for many years in York Region, she was always a kind hearted role model with a giving and compassionate nature. Visitation for family and friends will be at DIXON-GARLAND FUNERAL HOME ,166 Main St. N (Markham Road), Markham on Sunday Nov.16th , 2- 4 & 7-9 PM. A funeral service is planned for St Andrews Presbyterian Church, 143 Main St. N. Markham on Monday November 17th at 11:00 AM.
