Maurice Tapscott
1924-2014
Long ago on the 7th of May, a baby born at home,
Where country and a farming life, became his cornerstone
His mom and dad from England, they boldly set to claim
A place to raise a family as Tapscott proudly named
with one sister and two brothers, this spunky middle child
grew up in caring, humble times, within this rural style
daily chores, long walks to schools,
shared things, sold eggs, darned coats
Maurice learned the value of working hard,
though he sewed a few wild oats
Fond memories of cousins and auntie,
an occasional five cent ice cream
The values of a family life, became his central theme
Then on a special day of fate, at a youth group for the church
He met a young girl named Marydale and it ended his soul mate search
Married and settled on Markham Road, he became a family man
Filling his home with three wee daughters and became their biggest fan
Making memories of such happy times,
through the days and events of life
Mary-lynn, Beverly and tomboy Beth, and at his side his loving wife
No better has been a father, generous, fair and true
Always there to help and cheer us on, in all that we would do
Maurice had many interests and talents
he revealed throughout his years
Like his keen mathematical mind and business sense,
could increase a vendor's fears
He was a gamer in every sense of the word,
a competitor in every way
Curling, bowling, cards and more,
often winning at what he chose to play
With his family and friends he's fondly known,
as expecting them to do their best
Urging hard work, resolve and honesty,
always there to help out with the rest
His grandchildren were his pride and joy,
his adoration they came to know
From sporting events and many special times,
with much pleasure he watched them grow
Even in his final year, he continued to score his wins
Blessed by the arrival of Erin's little girls, his great grand baby twins
Throughout your life and living, so many lives you've touched
Friend, family, grandfather and dad, we all love you very much.
