Having grown up next to the MacDonald clan, it was heart breaking to hear the news. Although older than the 4 children, as one of the babysitters on the street I always felt like part of the family. Joe was always one of the main reasons for that feeling of welcome. I know he will be greatly missed, but he has laid the foundation for a family that will be strong together through the years.

Aunt Pat, Craig, Mike, Jackie & Patti - please accept our deepest sympathies on your loss. We heard the sad news from Uncle Philip and, while I did not know Uncle Joe very well, I think I must have been named after him because my wife couldn't believe the similarities in appearance and personality from the obituary. Our thoughts are with you all during this difficult time.

Our hearts are broken. We have known Joe for so long that he feels like family. I am so glad that I got to see him two weeks ago at church. A trip to Markham never felt complete unless we saw the MacDonalds. Please know that you are all in our prayers and we wish we could be there for you right now.

To Pat and Your Family: Pat and I had the pleasure of working together at Mother Teresa School in the 80's. I met Joe on a number of occasions and am truly sorry to hear of his passing. Gord, my husband is having an operation tomorrow so I will not be able to make the visitation or funeral but I would like you all to know I would have been there otherwise. You will be in our thoughts and prayers. Sincerely, Bev McMahon

Very sorry to hear of this sad day. I just want to say that he maybe one of the nicest men I have had the pleasure of knowing and was fortunate to grow up 3 doors down and was accepted as one of their own. To a great Father, neighbour, mentor, a man with so much patience, when he should have chewed us out he always took the high road, and gave you the speech of just remember, everything was a lesson not punishment.. Hats off to a great man!, your are special Mr Mac. Rest in peace Dean Dobson

We have known Joe and Pat for many, many years. They were a beautiful couple with a great sense of humour, love for all and an inspiration when it came to their strong faith. I truly enjoyed working with Joe on Knights of Columbus projects and we had many a great laugh due to his PEI sense of fun. Joe just by his actions has inspired me to better practise my faith. Rest in peace Joe. Tim and Marie
