Obituary of Effie Columbos

Columbos, Effie Theodora August 25th, 1950 - October 10, 2014 It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Effie with family by her side. Predeceased by her parents Alexander and Eugenia Columbos, her brothers John, Peter (Rhonda), Theodore, her niece Hayley and brother in law Roy. Effie is survived by her siblings Penelope (Paul), Anna, Alexandra, Joanne (Ken), Elisabet and Michael(Elizabeth), her nieces and nephews Tim,Alex (Madeleine),Anna,Amy, Jason(Nicola),Candice (Christian),Zoie (Mark),Zachary,Zenia (Marko),Andrew, Michael,Kenny,Alysa,Jessica and great nieces and nephews Nicholas, Sophie, Jack, Felix, Kaelan, Elliot and Benjamin. Effie was the fifth of ten children and raised in Toronto before moving to Ballantrae where she managed and operated Alexander's Gas Bar for 25 years. She battled cancer for the past five years with courage, dignity and strength. She was incredibly resilient, dedicated and a selfless person, who cared for her incapacitated brother and her elderly mother. Effie loved children and all animals, she will be missed by her dog Buster, cat Baby and pet geese. A funeral mass is being held on Saturday Oct 11 at 10am at Saints Panteleimon Anna and Paraskevi, Greek Orthodox Church, 11359 Warden Avenue, Markham with interment to follow at Pine Hills Cemetery in Scarborough.
