I remember the 'Markham House' as a place full of activity. A bustling household of boyz!!! With Uncle Barry the loudest troup leader.... "Uncle Fred! How have you been?" genuinely asked by Unlce Barry, as he grabbed luggage from the trunk, eager to grasp onto an ambiguous topic, whose merits needed debate with my grandfather, a worthy opponent, over happy hour. Politics, business, religion- nothing was off limits! Including how long said debate may go on.....God Bless the patience of 'Reet' and Aunt Diane!! They fascinated me to no end!
Nearly as interrogating as Uncle Dick, where you were going to school, what you were taking and your plan were always up for discussion, debate and direction as needed. Followed, of course, one by one, in detail, what each of his handsome sons were doing, how great they each were.
As years passed, there was always a regular call, to catch up, recall....touch base. In recent years, my Mum would relay the latest news from Haliburton, who was in the legion, who got an eight ender, who dropped by that she may know.....a friend always, connections maintained, ups, downs, and all places in between. She enjoyed those calls, and will note their absence.
In recent days, we have recalled many memories, my Mum especially. She remembers so much from the 'early years', a blend of tears and laughs.....too many to recall in a single page, a single evening.
She sends her love, and heartfelt condolences.....
Love to you all,
Jen Wyman xxxooo
