STEELE, William Francis "Bill"

March 17th, 1930 - April 15th, 2014 Bill Steele died peacefully in Markham, ON, after a full life and an epic journey with cancer, at the age of 84. Bill was predeceased by Margaret Rose Irvine Steele, his wife of 37 years and mother of his children: Larry Steele, Danette Steele (Lorna), Lisa Atkinson (Dave), Michele Cummings (Doug), Bill Steele (Nancy), and Kerstin Steele (Steve). Bill was also predeceased by his parents Mary and Frank and is survived by his sister Sherry Torrens (Bob). Survived by his long time best friend and wife for the past 24 years, Frances Kate Stewart Steele, and her children Darrell Stewart, Greg Stewart, Bruce Stewart, Wayne Stewart (Sylvie) and Carol Salerno (Mark). Bill was blessed with many grandchildren and one great grandchild (with two more on the way) from his two large families. He will be remembered and greatly missed by his families, his friends, the Swan Lake community, his IBM colleagues and the people he touched with his engaging humour and energy through the years. For a celebration of Bill's life - please join us at a gathering on Monday April 21st, 2014 from 2pm to 5pm at the Swan Lake Village, Gardens Community Centre, 22 Belle Terre Way in Markham Ontario. Entrance is via the gatehouse, off 16th Avenue, west of 9th line. The Funeral Mass for Bill will be held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 5633 Highway 7, Markham, on Tuesday April 22nd at 10:30am, followed by an interment at Holy Cross Cemetery in Thornhill. Bill was cared for by many wonderful professionals as he and Fran courageously faced his four cancer diagnoses. Special thanks is extended to Dr. Steve McLaren, Family Physician, and to Dr. Donna Reece of the Princess Margaret Hospital who provided skillful and compassionate care.
