Obituary of Laurie Blainey

Laurie Blainey March 24, 1951 - April 15, 2014 Following a courageous 10 month battle against pancreatic cancer, Laurie passed away peacefully at home on April 15, 2014 surrounded by her family and pets. She will forever be lovingly remembered by her husband Ron, daughter Kaitlin, stepdaughter Justine (Blake and grandchildren Yohanna and Theo) and stepson David (Kim and grandson Charlie), her sister Linda (Bob and nephew Stephen) and brother Ken (Ellen and nephews Ryan and Andrew), uncle Tony (Anne and cousin Sarah), and stepmother Ruby Parent, as well as so many other family members and close friends and of course her cherished four legged companions (Rowan, Timber, Expo and Griffin). Laurie will be forever missed by all who knew her and so enriched her life, and she theirs. A visitation will be held on April 25, 2014 at the DIXON-GARLAND FUNERAL HOME (166 Markham St. N.) from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. A Celebration of Laurie's Life will be held on April 26, 2014 at Le Parc Dining & Banquet Hall (8432 Leslie St.) from 11am-3pm. All who knew Laurie are welcome. No funeral service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Stronach Cancer Centre at Southlake Hospital, Evergreen Hospice or one of Laurie's charities "Last Chance Horse & Pony Rescue". Hopefully there will come a day when no one will ever again have to endure the journey that Laurie faced so bravely. Laurie's family wishes to extend its heartfelt thanks to the medical personnel who helped in Laurie's care for their expertise and compassion during her valiant struggle and to all the friends and family who provided support, prayers and home cooked meals.
