Obituary of John McCall

John (Jack) Ian McCall - Passed away peacefully on March 24, 2014 in his 89th year. Beloved husband and best friend of the late Grace Martha McCall. A perfect father to his two girls Laura Holliwell and Anne McCall Wilson and to his sons-in-law Chuck Holliwell and Steve Wilson. He took great pleasure in being the grandfather of Jon Holliwell and wife Kathleen and Dan Holliwell and wife Jennifer and loving great grandfather of Mikayla, Lauren, Julia, Myles and Melinda. He held a special place in his heart for his sister Margaret Bell and her husband Jim and loved being Uncle Ian to all his nieces and nephews. John was honoured to be a Toronto Firefighter for 40 years starting in 1947 and retiring as Platoon Chief. He championed firefighter causes through years of involvement with the Toronto Professional Firefighters Association where he held numerous Board positions. He was the President and driving force behind the development of many Firefighter businesses including the Firefighters Recreation Club in 1964, Firefighters Investment Club in 1970 and later the Firefighters Golf Courses - Gormley Green, Rolling Hills, Bethesda and Mill Run. He will be remembered my many as a proud firefighter, a successful business leader, and a great neighbour, a family man and a perfect father and husband. Visitation will take place on Sunday, March 30th 2-4 and from 7-9 pm at DIXON-GARLAND FUNERAL HOME, 166 Main Street N. (Markham Road), Markham.
