I had the pleasure of gettng to know Joanne 15 years (or more) ago. We met while painting together with Kveta at the Thornhill Community Center. Soon after Shirley Scoble began to teach us and then soon after we became a part of the Bayview Watercolour Society. She took much joy in these social and creative times and she was an amazing artist.

I loved joanne and her fiestyness. She told you the way it was, and did not spare words. i miss her terribly, and every Wednesday morning still look over where she sat, (for many years) and how she would be upset if someone else(not that they dared) unknowingly took her seat).I miss her, and her beautiful work. she lives on in our class and in our hearts.

Joanne inspired us. Her involvement with the Bayview Watercolour Society for the past nearly twelve years, not only showed her artistic talent, but her perseverance in mastering a particular idea she was working on. During classes and workshops, she would always chat and encourage me. I will miss her very much but have fond memories that me smile. My sincere condolences are extended to her family.

Taking over a teaching position at Thornhill Community Center I first met Joanne as one of my students. She was a gifted painter with a delightful style all her own. Joanne's work always stood out. Her skilled hand and inviting palette always drew us in to the story she was sharing.
A lovely warm person, she was on board when we founded Bayview Watercolour Society. From our first days until just recently she was a special fixture at all our meetings and events. She will be remembered with with love and affection and soreley missed.

Joanne and I often sat beside each other in the front row at Bayview Watercolour Society meetings. We had an instant rapport; I first noticed and admired her brightly coloured stylish reading glasses, then quickly came to appreciate the mischievous twinkle of her eyes. Joanne and I shared wise-cracks and witticisms, a love of watercolour, and an appreciation of fun jewellery. I will miss my front row pal.

I met Joanne years ago when we painted together at Thornhill Community Centre. I was the new member and she welcomed me and like to discuss our paintings. She was always full of encouragement and appreciation for my style of painting and a couple of years ago she purchased a painting of mine titled "Rigamarole" because she loved the title and the colours. She said to me, "thats what life is- a ragamarole" and then proceded to tell me how much she would enjoy looking at it. Joanne always spoke her mind and wore cool jewlery. She introduced me to her daughter. I hope some happy memories will help her family during this difficult time. Sincerely, Diana Bick

It is with great sadness and shock that I send condolences to Joanne's family. In the years that I have had the pleasure to know Joanne through painting classes and Bayview Watercolour Society, I have found her wit and sense of humour to be as wonderful as her paintings. It was a joy to have lunch with Joanne on Wednesdays at Thornhill Seniors Centre. Joanne will be missed by all who knew her. It is with regret I am out of the country and unable to attend her funeral.
