August 3rd,1939 ~ December 1st, 2024

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of John Andrew Leeds. Surrounded by love, John passed away peacefully at Markham Stouffville Hospital.

John is survived by his wife Marg of 61 years and cherished by his daughter Christina. He will be deeply missed by his son-in-law Manny and granddaughter Britton. Middle brother to Charlie (children: Gregory, Nancy, Stephen) and Bruce (children: Michael and Gary). Brother-in-law to Henry and Marion (and George). A special Uncle to so many including Cindy and her husband Rod and their children Ryan and Kerry, and Rob and his wife Lillian and their daughter Ashley.

John was an instrumental part of so many lives and we thank him for all he taught us about life and ourselves. He was a man with a tough exterior but he had a heart of gold and was the first to offer support to family and friends. John was a dedicated and respected teacher and Principal in Toronto, Peel and York Region. He was a story teller and journeyman as he loved to go for drives and reflect on his cherished memories of Fenelon Falls, Harris Lake and Cedar Lake.

Thank you to the staff at Markham Stouffville Hospital ~ doctors, nurses, PSW’s, PSA’s, PT/OT, and porters for your care of John. We appreciated your dedication, compassion and support.

Never to be forgotten ~ you will always have a special place in our hearts. Now at peace.

Family and friends are invited to gather in honour of John at the Markham District Veterans Association (7 Washington Street, Markham, L3P 2R3) on Saturday, January 4, 2025 from 12pm-2pm.
