Obituary of Wayne Ronald Burns

Wayne Ronald Burns, 79, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 21, 2024, in Markham Stouffville Hospital, surrounded by his family. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and exceptionally wonderful man.

Wayne is survived by the love of his life Gloria, who was his wife of 53 years, cherished father of Christa and Sean, grandfather to Chapelle, Lyra, and Reed. Wayne will also be greatly missed by his son-in-law David. He is preceded by his parents Ronald and Vera, brother Keith, sister-in-law Marian, Mother-in-law Anna, and father-in-law Michael.

The family would like to send a special thank you to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada, all the PSW’s from All Spectrum Women, Dr. Elizabeth Mui, nurse Susan and team in Seniors Home Support, Senior Helpers, and the doctors, nurses in Palliative care. I personally want to thank my private PSW women that dedicated day and night with difficult schedules taking care of Wayne with dementia, all of whom helped and took such wonderful care of him. Your dedication, compassion and support will never be forgotten. 

Wayne and I loved each other till his last breath. Nothing was more important to him than family. We will always remember him, the best husband, dad, and grandpa we could ever have wished for. I love you forever! All my hugs and kisses. Return as a bird and fly back to me. I will look after you. Be in peace my love!

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Wayne’s life at the Dixon-Garland Funeral Home in Markham on Sunday, December 1, 2024, with a visitation starting at 2:00pm and a funeral service in the chapel at 4:00pm. A reception will follow at the funeral home.
