My relationship with Donna goes back 70 years! We met in Grade 1. We immediately became fast friends. Walked to school together, took art classes together, took piano lessons from the same teacher and actually played a duet at a recital - we were so proud of ourselves. Over the years, our lives took different paths, but once reunited in the 70's we picked up right where we left off in high school. I had stories of my life in Hawaii, and she had stories of travel in Europe and Africa which were fascinating. But her true love was Nassau and spending time with the Tomlinson family - Rum Dums and conch salad was a must at lunch! I now live in San Francisco and traveled home every summer and at Christmas to see my family and to visit with Donna. We did travel together - Hawaii, Puerto Vallarta and Cuba - she loved to travel. Donna had a love for life, enjoyed a good laugh, her spirit of adventure was exemplary along with her curiosity to learn new things. You could ask her opinion and she'd always be straightforward and honest along with being empathetic and understanding. She was talented as an artist, designer and gardener. Her style and confidence were evident - she could turn heads!
Her leaving has left a void that will be difficult to overcome. But we also know she would want us to move forward and live our lives with the same passion and energy she always exhibited. I miss you, Buddy.

Since meeting about 10 years ago at an Abstract art workshop, Donna and I became good friends sharing not only mutual friends in our art endeavours but trips together and many discussions on life experiences. Our common background of spending times in Nassau and discovering we knew the same family increased our bond. Donna was always willing to help others, had a good sense of humour and bore her illness with fortitude. She always expressed she was “Living in the Moment.” On many occasions Donna told me how grateful she was for the medical help she received in the past couple of years and the thoughtful grace given to her by Lesley James. I will miss Donna’s wise counsel and art critiques but most of all her undoubted friendship.

Thinking of Donna's family and close friends during this difficult time. She had such a zest for life and was a positive influence on those she touched. It was a pleasure to spend some time with her this past year. Conch salad is the best. She had the best taste, always made me laugh and I enjoyed her happy stories of Nassau when we visited together. Rest in peace, Donna.

Deeply saddened that Donna isn't with us. She was such a strong example in my life. Love cousin Candace xo
