Obituary of Catharine Margaret Troyer
With sadness, the family announces the peaceful passing of Catharine Troyer on August 13, 2024, surrounded by her cherished family and her Amazing Grace. Catharine was the daughter of the late John Arpad and the late Evelyn Cattanach. Loving wife of the late Ray Troyer. Devoted Mom to Elizabeth and son in law Daren, proud and beloved Nana to her only grandchild, beautiful Maggie. Dear sister to her adored brothers, the late Lachlan and the late Robert Cattanach and special sister-in-law to the late Isabelle and the late Eleanor Cattanach. Lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Catharine was a long time resident of Markham where she not only lived but worked at Cattanach Hindson Sutton VanVeldhuizen for over 65 years. Catharine was very passionate about her career as an Estate Secretary working with her father and then her brother Lachlan. Catharine took great pride in assisting clients and forming long lasting friendships at the Law Firm. She would always say "she loved every minute working at the firm", it was a place that brought her fulfilment, joy and friendships for many years. It was her extended family. Catharine had many interests with her husband and family such as travelling, spending time at the family cottage, baking amazing pies, cooking wonderful meals and travelling to Florida for many years with the dear Minton family. Catharine was always up for any adventure and her favourite pastime was going out for dinners with family and friends and enjoying ice cream cones in the summer. Her greatest passion was spending time with her immediate family and the Cattanach clan, nothing brought more joy to her life than that. Spending time with her granddaughter, visiting with her nieces and nephews and her great nieces and nephews and hearing about their lives made her so happy. Catharine loved traditions and holidays. Catharine's life was defined by her devotion to family and friends. Catharine will be remembered for her grace, her wit, wisdom, compassion, generosity, kindness, and her great sense of humour. Catharine taught her daughter, her son-in-law and her grandchild the importance of having a career and a strong work ethic as well as the importance of being honest and kind. Catharine was a matriarch of inner strength, joy, and unconditional love. Catharine was a pillar of strength for her daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter. Catharine's goal was to raise a strong independent daughter and granddaughter and she was always there for her family and friends. Catharine embraced life's challenges that came her way, she dealt with them, and then moved forward and turned the page. A life well lived.
