Obituary of Francisco Banza Godinho

On Thursday June 6th, 2024, Francisco (Frank) Banza Godinho passed away at the age of 76. Frank passed peacefully in the arms of his loving wife Maria Emilia. He is survived by his wife, son Jason, daughter-in-law Lisa and grandchildren Anthony and Nicole.

Frank was born in Aljustrel, Portugal on Oct. 28, 1947. His family moved to Almada, close to Lisbon where he studied for a short period of time. His family moved to Canada in 1961 where he reunited with Maria and their beautiful love story began. They had previously met at school in Portugual. They married on March 16, 1968 and had their son Jason shortly afterwards.

After completing his studies at George Brown, he held a few different jobs. His longest career experience was over 40 years at Canadian Pacific Rail. Frank was always well liked and respected by his colleagues. He had a reputation of working hard and enjoying a good laugh. We will all have positive stories to share about the incredible man that he was. He loved and cared deeply for all his friends and family and showed that love constantly.

Frank loved to return to Portugal on trips with his wife, son and grandchildren. He also loved sports (especially the soccer team Benfica). He was always physically active until his illness prevented him. Frank’s illness was devastating to the family but he was always loved and cared for by his wife and supported by all his family and close friends. He is now at peace and we feel blessed that he is at rest. He may have left this physical world but his memory and spirit will never die.

You will remain in our hearts forever.
