Obituary of Shirley Joudrey

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mom, Shirley Joudrey on April 17, 2024 peacefully at her home with her children by her side.

Born in Markham on September 24, 1939 to Harold and Blanche Underwood. She spent her life in Markham, growing up with her siblings, Darlene (Clarence), Yvonne (George), Dorothy (Art), Steve and Norm (Jean). She would later become wife to Dave Joudrey and mom to 4 children, Davie (Cherylyn), Rick (Anne), Denise (Dwight) and Tammy (Gord). She cherished all 6 of her grandkids, Tyler, Layton, Brendon, Skyler, Maddie and Chelsea as they always brought so much joy to her life. Mom’s entire life was spent being a caregiver to everyone. Always putting everyone above herself, unless there was a casino close then it was her time.

She was the queen of a good roast beef dinner, the bigger the crowd to feed the better. She loved traditions like holidays or family barbeques as she knew it meant family time. Weekends were spent dancing in her parent’s basement, Sunday dinners, and a few Singapore slings. Spending time with her whole family brought joy to her life. Nieces, nephews and friends were all family. All of those who came through our lives as her kids all went through her life too. She was known as Mugsy to so many people, a nickname that stuck. She was one of the toughest ladies to grace this planet. Her smile, honesty and her stubbornness will be truly missed.

A Celebration of Life in her honour will be held on May 4th, 2024 at the Sunderland Legion 104 River Street, Sunderland, Ontario
