Dear Pastor Peeter and Family, how blessed we were, each in our own way, to have had Carol in our lives, even briefly. She was a warm, friendly and caring person. My experience with Pastor Peeter and Carol were on two of their tour-guiding trips - Costa Rica and the Martin Luther Tour in Germany. They did such a good job of keeping us organized and well-looked after throughout those tours, in addition to keeping us amused with jokes and stories. I hope that the many happy memories of her long life, well-lived, will uplift you as time passes and replace the sadness with joy.
With sincere sympathy,
Irene Beinarovics

Carol was an amazing woman with a gift for connecting with children. We lived in Pte. Claire, Qc when Carol taught the Parksites Pre-school. Two of our children attended and were introduced to learning by this wonderful teacher! Carol had a calm and gentle way that drew children & parents to her and we all learned so much from her! God bless her.

Dear Pastor Peeter, Mark and Sylvia, Lynn and Chris, and Jenna, Nadia, Jakob and Pearce.
We send our heartfelt sympathies, caring thoughts and love on learning of the passing of your beloved Carol — dear wife, mother, mother-in-law and grandmother.
Along our Life’s journey we collect friends … And, if we’re lucky, some of our friends grow into a special category of friendship we affectionately call ‘Lifelong Friends’.
Pastor Peeter and Carol arrived at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in west-Toronto in 1967 and established friendships with church members and their families — families that including my parents Trudy & Bob and my brothers and I. My mother Trudy connected with Carol and these 2 strong women bonded as Lutheran Church Women (LCW), mothers, and sharing a love of teaching and desire to continue their own education in pursuit of university degrees — they supported each other in that pursuit course-by-course through to their graduations.
Despite career moves that separated the families for stretches of years, strong Faith and ardent support of each other continued, and the friendship between Peeter & Carol and Trudy & Bob grew. Years turned into decades and 2 ’stuck-like-glue’ ladies and their husbands became true Lifelong friends.
Carol was a blessing in our lives and we will miss her.

Dear Peeter, Mark & Lynn and your families
Our deepest sympathies on the loss of your wife , mother and grandmother. Carol was a dedicated teacher whether the pre-school in Pointe Claire or her years in Unionville as a special education teacher. Caring and loving to all her “ little charges” Carol became a good friend to me and I regret not staying in closer touch. A reminder to all - don’t wait until tomorrow to reach out, call or visit

Distance and life got in the way, but despite that we share so much over a span of 50 years. In looking for a new church home upon moving back to Toronto, we immediately knew we would search no further when we met Carol and Peeter. Our children, Mark, Lynn, William and Jonathan became instant friends. Peeter was such a source of support to Henry as he navigated the challenging move from teaching, to seminary, to the ordained ministry. Carol guided me with love through that journey.. We visited back and forth for half a century, watching each other's kids grow and thrive. Carol and Peeter supported me through the loss of my first husband Henry and rejoiced with me when I was blessed with my second husband, Don. It was such a joy for me that they, too got to meet each other and become friends.
Together with Don, William & Debbie, Jonathan & Colleen, we send our deepest condolences and gratitude to you for sharing your wonderful mother, grandmother and life partner with us.
God bless all of you

We met Carol and Pastor Vanker as members of Bethesda Lutheran Church, Unionville in 1993. Immediately she welcomed us not only as new members but as life long friends. Carol was special! Her smile and positivity made you feel like family. God bless her and the entire Vanker family. Carol’s passing will leave a huge void in their lives. The Park family will remember all of you in our prayers.

Carol and Pastor Peeter were a joyful part of our Family Camp experiences at Camp Lutherlyn every year for almost 30 years the first thing I remember about Carol is her exuberance and super ability to get the kids involved especially with the action song “Little green frog”
She even got a kick out of trying to get the nail polish off of Pastor Peeter's toes. lol. “Paint each other’s Toes Day”. One of the many activities that I organized for fun.
Carol was truly a an asset at Camp and a blessing to our family, Gary, Julie, Richard, Laura and myself over the years.
I’m sure God has a special place in heaven for Carol, and you get to meet my parents and my brother in heaven. God bless the whole family.
Love in Christ
Della.
