Obituary of Eileen Jones

Jones, Ruby Eileen   March 22, 1932- February 4^th 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ruby Eileen Jones of Markham, Ontario, in her 92^nd year.  Daughter of the late Rev. Alonzo and Flossie Gooding. Survived by her sons Donald (Annette) and Brian (Teodora) “Teody”. Grandmother of Derek and Jason Jones, Wesly, Katie, Jonathan and Eric McDowell. Great-grandmother of 6.

Predeceased by her daughter, Karen Jones (McDowell) , as well as her brothers Eldon, Vernon, baby Gordon and sisters Evelyn Milstead, Dorothy Winger, Dorine Doner, and Ruth Christilaw.

Also predeceased by her former husband Kenneth Jones.

Eileen was a woman of strong faith, a hard worker and devoted to her family. After raising her young family she began working full-time in A&P’s Meat Department in Stouffville from 1966 until retirement in 1997. She enjoyed many travels, bowling, gardening, painting, knitting, playing cards games, doing puzzles and games of scrabble. She was able to remain in her home until the very end due to the wonderful care of Teody and Brian, who resided with her. A special thank you to the PSW who assisted in her care especially Rajender and Lorna.

Thank you also to Dr. Emilie Lam and Dr. Sam Babak of the Markham Stouffville Hospital as well as the caring doctors and nurses at Sunnybrook Hospital where she spent her last days.

As per her wishes, cremation has taken place and there will not be any services. Arrangements entrusted to Dixon-Garland Funeral Home in Markham. If you wish, donations may be made in memory of Eileen to a charity of your choice.
