I was deeply saddened to hear the news of Paul’s passing. Not only was Paul my Man in Society course teacher at David and Mary Thompson CI in Scarborough, but he and Shaaron also introduced me to my career as an Animal Health Technician as they offered me the opportunity to work with them while they were raising Collies. I also spent a summer with them in Uxbridge while I interned at the local veterinary clinic. During that summer stay with them, Paul taught me to drive on the country roads in his old Dodge Dart. Paul was the MC at my wedding in 1984 and their daughter, Katie, was one of my flower girls. Although I lost track of Paul and Shaaron over the last many years, they have both been instrumental and important influences on my life and career choices. Sending heartfelt condolences to Shaaron and family.
With love and respect
Jennifer Wilson

My sincerest condolences to the all the Sheahan family. As my high school swim coach, Mr. Sheahan had such a profoundly positive influence on my life during those formative years. Though I was by no means the fastest swimmer on the team, nor the most athletic of the bunch . . . not by a long shot, Mr. Sheahan still appointed me captain and gave me many opportunities to build confidence in myself. The lessons he taught us both at the pool and beyond will last a lifetime. I am keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers.

I had the good fortune to experience much of Paul's love of history, humour, and the ups and downs of simple every day life and the challenges of classrooms. Paul indeed had a knack for making his subject come to life. He raved about the Civil War and I got to attend one of the re-enactments held on the site of the Pickering Museum. It was a fantastic way for young people to live the history. He had a unique approach that brought out the best in the learners. Several of my own children had Paul as their teacher and could testify to his professionalism and the passion which he brought to the classroom.
Condolences to all the family. May his soul rest in peace and may he be welcomed into God's kingdom.

Many of our fondest highschool memories came from the Brother Andre CHS Swim Team. Though Mr. Sheahan had no formal training, his commitment, passion and experience as a teacher (along with the support of Shaaron and kids!) were the keys to coaching his swimmers to many accomplishments that will be forever treasured. 'Still waters run deep' ties perfectly with Paul's nature, and we smile when recalling a sudden zinger coming out to keep the team in line. Our deepest condolences to Shaaron, Katie, Meaghan, Patrick and family. A Diet Coke Toast to Paul Thomas Sheahan.

Mr. Sheahan was a proud supporter of our swim team at Brother Andre and I have many memories of him going above and beyond to support the program. It was because of him and the opportunities he created that I got to compete at OFSAA and go on to swim competitively at University. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
Sincerely,
Nicole Vreugdenhil (nee Strecker)

Paul Sheahan knew history and taught it well. We learned much from him before he retired as we still do upon closer reflection, today. Life and all its rights and wrongs mattered to him, because he was a careful observer and witness to truth, everywhere. He habitually reserved judgement so as to sooner be judged himself. His way was to proceed as a witness to lived experience in empathy for those not often heard. There, he would then close the loop methodologically somewhere between Thucydides and St. Thomas and the saints as he taught. Paul was on all counts and always a very worthy colleague and teacher historian. He will be missed. On behalf of the Catholic teachers of St. Brother Andre Catholic High School we extend our sincerest condolences to all his family and friends,
Canadian and World Studies Department, St. Brother Andre C.H.S., Markham.

Sending our deepest condolences to Paul's family.
Years ago we forged a wonderful friendship through our mutual love of Greyhounds.
We will miss all the calls, conversations and visits, especially during Blue Jays season.
They couldn't have had a more loyal fan.
Rest in peace friend.

Condolences to Paul's family and friends on his sudden passing. The obituary is a beautiful tribute and summary of a man who was very loved, and someone who cared for others. May he Rest In Peace. (I would be Paul's second-cousin once removed, but Shaaron has stayed in touched with the Chicago Sheahans for many years.)

My sincerest condolences to the Sheehan family. Paul was a wonderful mentor and colleague.
Adopted his lesson on ‘dictatorship’ a few times. Normally ‘chill’ teacher jumps out of character to read the ‘riot act’ to a class. A concocted story about Board Officials displeased with their achievement. Things were to change! Students could only speak when addressed, they would stand to give answers, their seating would be rank ordered based on most recent test scores, etc. Etc. On one occasion the period ended before letting the class in on this charade. They were ‘shell shocked’, surprisingly no parents called the board lol. Bet the students remembered the term however.
Paul introduced our staff to John McDermott’s version of “Christmas in the Trenches”. I think of Paul every time I hear the song. RIP Paul

I remember this well, Tom.in one of the classes I taught, I did tell the students at the end of the class about what the exercise was about I.e. fascism and the dictator state. Apparently that message didn’t reach home in one case because at the parent teacher interview a couple of weeks later, one parent wasn’t concerned about their child’s progress, but asked me where in the class their child would sit. So many lessons to learn from this. Thank you Paul. Requiestat in Pace.

It is with great saddnes for us (Nick and Paola Barillaro) to hear of Paul's passing. Our sincere condolonces go out to the whole family.at this most difficult time. Paul's dedication to family, and education will always be remembered. His enthusiam for the department was infectuous. I remember telling him that I didn't know what size boat that I should buy for my cottage. He didn't blink an eye and volunteered to come to the lake for the weekend and he helped me find what I needed. We had a fun and I recall Patrick's excitement when he found a bird's nest on the prpperty.
Paul, you will not be forgotten by all us who had the privilege of knowing you and working under you. God Bless.

I was fortunate enough to start my high school teaching career in Paul’s department. His enthusiasm for teaching and supporting students was infectious. We had many spirited department meetings discussing pedagogy. He was such a good sport and shared our sense of humour. You will be missed, Paul, but more importantly your contribution to education will always be remembered.
My deepest condolences to his family at this time.

I had the privilege to teach alongside Paul at Brother Andre. I admired his creativity and passion for experiential learning. He championed our professional awareness of multiple intelligences and diverse learning/ teaching styles. I had the pleasure of attending one of the CivilWar re-enactments and witnessed the uniqueness of this opportunity for students. Paul was a good friend during our years together at BA He shall be deeply missed by so many colleagues who had much respect for this good man.
My deepest condolences to his family, especially his children who were former students of mine.
Peace John Rogers
