Obituary of Barbara Heard

Finally reunited in the arms of the one she loves. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Barb on December 21st at the age of 88 after a period of declining health. Beloved mother of Brad (Christina) Brett, Jodi (Roger), Scott (Cathie).

“There are these kids, they kind of stole my heart, and they call me “Nan.” Nothing made “Nan” prouder than the love she felt for her grandchildren; Daniel (Brittany), Jenn, Robbie, Brady (Eliza), Lauryn (Owen), Annabelle, Poppy, and great-grandchildren Madalyn and Jonah. When not with her family, Barb cherished time spent with her many great friends, including the “Sometimers” from Swan Lake who she adored immensely.

As per her wishes, a cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held next spring. Our family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Gina Yip, and to the staff at Markham Stouffville Hospital (Oak Valley Health) for their care and compassion. In her happiest of days, Barb would be hosting a big cocktail party, dressed to the nines with red nails and lips, with a house full of people, dancing in the old fashion way…that’s how we choose to remember her today.
