Obituary of Ellen Nuechterlein

Ellen Nuechterlein

February 19, 1964 – November 30, 2023

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Ellen Nuechterlein (59) on November 30 at Toronto General Hospital with family by her side.

Those left to mourn her loss are her loving husband of 34 years, Kirk Nuechterlein; her daughters, Kaitlin (27) and Anna (23); her brother John Blakkan and his wife Stephanie; and her sister-in-law Kathy Ladwig and her husband Jerry.

Ellen was an extraordinarily special wife, mother, and friend who carried herself with strength, grace, and compassion throughout her lifetime. She touched many lives across the globe, in the United States, Australia, and Canada.

Ellen met her husband Kirk in university in 1985 and married in 1989. They were an inseparable pair who lived life to the fullest, and especially loved attending sports events, music concerts, and spending time on the shores of Lake Charlevoix together. 

Ellen had a strong purpose in life to be a wonderful mother to her children. She was nurturing, protective, and instilled strong values in her daughters, who feel blessed to have felt her deep and profound love. 

Ellen was a talented, intelligent, and creative woman. She shared her passion for football, music, crafts, interior design, hiking, art fairs, and theatre with her friends and family. Ellen was a lover of cats of all shapes and sizes and adored her pets Samson, Ozzie, and Otto. 

Ellen leaves this world to join her parents, Jack and Rena Blakkan, and sister Marcia. She will be missed deeply and held in the hearts of her loved ones forever and always.

As per Ellen’s wishes, she has been cremated and a Celebration of Life will take place this summer in Northern Michigan – the place she loved the most.
