To Carolyn, Barry and Robert's family, I'm so sorry to hear of Robert's passing. As close neighbours, brother Jim and I had quite a bit to do with Robert and you all. I still remember the one occasion that I drove 12 of us kids homefrom Markham in our Volkswagon Beetle. Robert was in the passenger seat with a kid on his lap. 3 were in the back seat with a kid on each lap and 3 smaller kids including my brother stood in the trunk area behind the back seat. It must have been about 1959 or so. Robert was a big 14 or 15 year old boy at that time but he fit in that seat without much difficulty and we all made it home.
He was always kind and polite and never said anything bad about anyone. It was a privilege to have known him.
Sending our deepest sympathy,
Lorna and Paul Graham

We send our sincerest condolences. Bob was a very nice and gentle man. I knew him all of my life and respected and looked up to him. We were in attendance yesterday at his service. Unfortunately, we were unable to attend the reception your family provided. The service was a very fitting tribute to Bob. He will certainly be missed.

To the Little Family:
I was totally shocked and saddened to learn of Bob's passing. At Markham Fair this year , I was suffering from a back injury and had to get assistance to get back to my car. He drove me in the golf cart which is for situations like this. We shared old times and his jobs , and his family , after he left farming.
I grew up at Don Head Jersey Farms in Richmond Hill and way back when i was teenager I showed a bull and a heifer at the RAWF for his Dad, Archie. Don Head Jerseys looked after his two there. I have for years seen and talked with Barry at the Fair. We watch the Jersey show every year.
Bob was stalwart in the Markham Fair, being its President, and still highly and actively involved. He has been a lifetime volunteer which is something to revere! And so well-respected!
I also was Principal at Wm. Armstrong P.S when both Todd and Darren attended . His boys about the same age as my 3 kids , and my son named Darren too.
I extend my sincere and deepfelt condolences to Todd and Darren and all the rest of the family.
Please Rest In Peace, Bob.

I hadn't know Bob for very long but played cards with him on Fridays at the Vets hall. I found him to be such a likable person that I took to him right away and would go out of my way to be his partner for the first game, just an excellent guy.

Very sorry for your loss
As a parts man at Hutchinson's , I had more dealings with Barry BUT do remember my first time meeting Bob. This towering figure
standing across the counter from me , and then he asked for some info about some thing he was working on and soon any
fears I had were gone and as mentioned he always thanked me for any answers I gave him.
Miss you. Ron

I knew Bob through sports at MDHS and, having left Ontario for western Canada in the early 70's hadn't seen him in many years until MDHS alumni started meeting a number of years ago. Catching up with Bob after 40 some years was as easy as if it had only been a few months since we last spoke.
What an accomplished and satisfying life Bob led. It is indeed humbling to walk in his shadow yet gratifying to have known him and to have called him a friend.
Our deepest condolences for your loss.

Bob and I worked together at Massey Ferguson for a number of years and although I did not go to the field very often I saw Bob at many functions and meetings and I will miss Bob, his humour, his stories and his gentle ways. My condolences to his family and many friends.

While growing up in Markham back in the 60's, everyone knew Bob and what a wonderful guy he was. My father had the good fortune of working with Bob in the test track area of Massey-Ferguson in Milliken for many years. I'd see Bob quite frequently and he was always in good form. I'd like to express my condolences to Bob's family as he will be remembered well by everyone.

Sincere e sympathy to Todd and Darren and Natalie and all the grandchildren on the passing of your father and grandfather.
Also sending sympathy to Carolyn and Bob on the passing of your "big brother".
I just always thought of Bob as the gentle giant because I don't think I ever knew of anyone else who had his stature.
