My heartfelt and saddened condolences to the family of my friend Neil Gordon. I knew Neil for about 12 years, but this Spring, my house was the second last project he ever worked on. And we were talking about resuming more work. We had good fellowship every workday for 3 months until June. Neil fixed pretty much everything, including getting rid of "baldy" the squirrel, restoring my plumbing issues and a myriad of sundry items. There was nothing he couldn't do, and do well. We shared a lot of laughs. He has left us way too soon. He was younger than I. We shared our old country heritage and a liking for old 396 Chevies. I'm enclosing a photo of what my garage looked like while he was here. This scene was Neil's wheelhouse; it is how I'll always remember our good fellowship.

There are no words to say how sorry I am to hear of Neils passing. It’s not often you get to admire and respect a man you haven’t actually met in person. It doesn’t seem that long ago I received a call out of the blue to “just chat” with someone who is so important to Tammy and in Neil’s words “because she’s important to me too.” I knew then that you were one of the good ones. Our hearts are with you all. RIP Neil. Valerie,Darren,Jenna and Kamryn, Labrador City,NL

So sad to hear this. Gone to soon. Met Neil in 2016, drove me to my hotel even it was out of his way. The 2 hours I spent with him, was so impactful, he has a special place in my heart. We stayed in touch through Facebook and will always remember him. Deepest sympathies to the family and friends.

So sorry to hear of Neil’s passing. Sending our sincere condolences to Tammy and family and to the Gordon family. Tammy is a long time friend of our family. She went to school with my daughter and remained friends to this day. We were lucky enough to meet Neil just the one time when I went to Toronto for my treatments. Tammy and Neil came by and took us out all afternoon to visit Tammy’s brother Scott. When we were saying goodbye and thanking them for a lovely evening, Neil said one moment I have something for you and we don’t take no for an answer. He then passed us over$100 voucher to treat ourselves to the restaurant for supper near the hostel. I was so shocked that a stranger insisted on us taking the voucher. He said Tammy and I want you to enjoy supper on us. Just blew my mind. We knew then that Tammy had herself a good man. Sad that his life was cut short. Hugs Tammy, we are thinking about you at this very difficult time. Regards Ellen and Cal Saunders from Labrador City. RIP Neil

Dear Family of Neil,
Thank you for sharing this beautiful human with the rest of us. I see the photo of him posted here and at once know it captured this "not-one-for-the-limelight-but-deserving-of-it-so-very-much" man, who gave himself to being of service, being in community with others.
So very many he helped over the years, the elderly, like my late Mom, who -- one day, as Neil was there helping us with something yet again -- was pacing and anxious, and he saw this and then he led her to a favourite wing-back chair that she had and he said to her, with that big smile of his and his gentle voice, "This is your comfy chair, isn't it? Come, you sit down here, here in your comfy chair ... and STAY THERE, okay?" :-) That's all it took. She adored him, like we all did.
All the friendly visits he made to the old and lonely shut-ins, Neil would load them into his fabulous car and drive them for an outing and a coffee for them and a tea for him. All the souls who were going thru a tough spot, he would calmly hear them and then set about doing the next right thing to help. Oh yes, he would give some of us a good scolding, tell us the truth of the matter, and we would take it to heart and try to follow his counsel and be all the better for knowing that somebody cared. Neil would meet people where they were, you know. He sought always to be at eye level with everyone.
He loved his family -- loved every one of you -- beyond words, was joyous to have every one of you in his life. He was a grateful, humble man with a whacky, I am going to make you laugh sense of humour, How he loved laughing with whoever and wherever he could, always teasing and chasing smiles ... an expansiveness that comes from knowing the other side, sorrow.
Others in their tributes mention his, "Here comes trouble" refrain. Neil's famous way of saying, "Hey there, so good to see ya. What's shakin'?" And always, as it is also said, "Good trouble."
Our hearts go out to you, each one, as you celebrate and grieve this one-of-a-kind man. Neil Gordon lives on in everyone of us who knew him.
With deep sympathies and condolences,
Leslie

His heart was huge. He was always there to help everyone. I met Neil about 30 years ago when our daughters were in grade school. His opening line was "here comes Trouble" and I soon found out I was not the only one blessed with the nickname. Many fun memories and stories to be told of a great man. My condolences to Tammy, Ashley and Family and to his many, many, many friends. You will be dearly missed, never forgotten, always remembered.
