McKinnon, Kathleen (Kay) Lynn

 

The family of Kay McKinnon are saddened to announce her passing at Markham-Stouffville Hospital after suffering a stroke on August 24th 2023, with her family by her side.

 

Born February 13, 1947 Kay was 76 years young. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Jim McKinnon in 2014, as well as her parents George and Muriel and sisters Gena and Bea. She leaves behind to mourn her passing and celebrate her life her daughter Dawn, grandchildren Ryan and Heather and grandpuppies Rascal and Morgan. Her brother Jim Duncan (Abbotsford BC) and his wife Val will miss her dearly, as will the many nieces, nephews and other family in both British Columbia and Ontario.

 

Kay was one who was destined for teaching. She enjoyed a long career spanning 30 years teaching various grades at Uxbridge Public School, retiring only so she could spend more time with her growing family. Coaxed out of retirement to cover a long term leave she also taught at Joseph Gould.

 

The family would like to thank her many friends and Reverend Karen Hammond Coxall for taking the time to visit her in hospital.

 

Family and friends will be received at 11:00 am Friday, September 1, 2023 at Dixon-Garland Funeral Home, 166 Main St. North, Markham with the funeral service to follow in the chapel.

 

In lieu of flowers donations to Heart and Stroke Foundation or to Trinity United Church Development Fund (Uxbridge) are appreciated.
