Obituary of Elizabeth Smith
With the heaviest of hearts, we announce that we lost our beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and friend, Elizabeth “Betty-Ann” (nee Lindey) Smith. In the early hours of July 12th, 2023, she passed peacefully, surrounded by love and family.
In her 92 years of life, she brought exuberant energy to every situation - whether that was at a family gathering, while being a competitive bingo player or during a round of golf that she played well into the later years of her life. Betty-Ann is survived by her husband, John Peter Smith, whom she loved dearly through their 74 years of marriage. She is also survived by her 5 children: Ricky (Sharon) Smith in North Carolina, Cathy (Ian) Sneddon in Wyevale, Patti (Rick) Hooper in Brooklin, Peter (Monique) Smith in Hanmer and Peggy (Doug) Kavanagh in Markham. As well, survived by her 10 grandchildren, Peter (Heather), Jackie (Brett), Caroline (Marc), Tom (Kristen), Rich, Jessica (Ryan), Olivia (Jack), Paul (Olivia), Justin (Alyssa), Jordan (Tina) and 15 great-grandchildren, Tessa, Eric, Parker, Audrey, Bree, Tanner, Jack, Smith, Brooks, Evelyn, Josh, Brantley, Lindey, Connor, and Walker.
Betty-Ann has been welcomed into heaven by her parents, Roy and Viola Lindey, sister Patsy and brother John.
We will all still talk to her, smile and laugh as we remember some of our favourite times together. We will truly miss the woman we called Mom, Nannie, and great Nannie (or more likely just “Nan”).
She will always be a part of everyone who knew her - all her friends and big family from North Bay, Markham, and Willowbrook (Florida).
No visitation, cremation has occurred. A celebration of Betty Ann’s life will be held at a later date in North Bay, Ontario.
