Obituary of Patricia "Pat" Procenko

Never Forgotten, Forever Loved ...

Pat Procenko

March 17, 1937 - May 18, 2023

It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to Patricia (Pat) Procenko (nee Rate) who died peacefully on May 18, 2023, with her family by her side. Pat was 86 years old and was predeceased by her husband Morris and her 3 siblings; Fred Rate, Barbara Bunnett and Lorraine Skeene. She is survived by her sons; John (Renée) and Stephen; her grandchildren Nicolas and Mitchell; and her sister Margaret (Jim) Oliver.

Everyone who knew Pat felt her big heart and giving nature. She will be especially missed by her two grandsons as she spent countless hours with them over the years and played an active role in their lives. Even in her last few days, she told some funny stories from her babysitting days when the boys were young and quite active (to say the least). Pat gave generously of her time to causes that were dear to her heart. For over 20 years she volunteered daily at the Markham Stouffville Hospital, as well as fundraised for Mothers Against Drunk Drivers (MADD).

Before the pandemic, she was also actively involved with her church, Markham Missionary, collecting clothing for the homeless. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her. Rest in heavenly peace Mom.

A “Celebration of Life & Memorial Service” will be held on Friday, June 2 with visitation at 11:00am and Memorial Service at 12:00pm.

Pat’s favourite charities were Mother’s Against Drunk Drivers (MADD) whom she supported and fundraised for, and the Cancer Society.

Donations to either cause in her honour would be greatly appreciated by the family.
