I just came across Eleanor’s obituary today and I want to offer my condolences to the entire Clarke family.
We were neighbours for many years, living on Paradise Avenue just down the road from the Clarke clan on Rougecrest. My mom was great friends with Eleanor and even after mom moved into the city, they enjoyed wonderful visits over the phone.
When I first started working in the city, my sister and I used to commute taking the train with Eleanor many times from Locust
Hill. She was such good company and always kept us entertained for the 50 minute trip into Toronto.
I also have some great memories of time spent at Cameron Lake enjoying the Clarke hospitality. Who could forget those refreshing dips in the lake or popping into Fenelon Falls to get an ice cream and watch the boats at the locks?
Your mom and grandmother was a wonderful person - she will be missed by many!

I extend my deepest condolences on the passing of your mother. Mrs. Clarke holds a special place in my heart as she was a daycare provider and a memorable presence during my formative years.
I have terrific memories of when she and her mother took me shopping, especially one year we went Christmas shopping in Scarborough. The special treats at the mall during Christmas created lasting impressions I will forever cherish.
Moreover, I recall the couple of times when I was sick, and your mother took the time to look after me. Her compassion and genuine concern made those challenging moments more bearable. It's a testament to her loving nature.
During this challenging time, I want you to know my thoughts and prayers are with you. May the memories of the beautiful moments shared with your mother bring comfort.
With heartfelt sympathy,
John

We lived kitty corner across the road from the Clarke family on Rouge Crest Drive from 1964 to 1972. . We used to eat rhubarb , raw(!), from the back yard garden on hot summer days after a trip down to the creek. I also remember eating canteloupe with ice cream for the first time served by Mrs Clarke. On rainy days I played games like " Operation" and "The Game of Life" with the Carol and Jane.. Mrs Clarke was always so kind and welcoming to the neighbourhood children. My deepest sympathy for the loss of your lovely Mom...Doreen (MacDonald) Graham.

When we first arrived in Markham with two small children in 1974 we were made to feel very welcome by Eleanor and George who greeted us with open arms on Rougecrest Drive. They had us over for dinner, and to the cottage on Cameron Lake and of course we got to know the whole Clarke family. Eleanor was a great cook and our lives adjusting to a new environment were made so much easier by the hospitality and assistance offered to us. We miss her presence across the road!
With much sympathy for your loss,
Ingrid and Rorke Bryan
