Obituary of Mary Marguerite Atterbury

ATTERBURY, Mary Marguerite (nee Chipman)- Passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, April, 29, 2023 at the remarkable age of 96.  Mary is now reunited with her late husband John Francis Atterbury and loved ones.  Mary was the loving step mother to Diane Atterbury, David Atterbury (Bonnie) Grace Willmott (George-predeceased), Barbara Sajkowski (Ollie predeceased), William Atterbury (Ester) both predeceased ,and Robert  Atterbury (Marilyn) both predeceased).  She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren Shelley (Julian), Janice (Trent), Jillian (Jason), Marc (Alecia) and many other loving extended, step children, grand and great grandchildren and family members. 

Mary was the daughter of the late Walter and Phoebe Chipman, and was predeceased by her siblings Maude, Provie, Azeriah, Gen, Annie, Belle, Bill, and Bud. Her many nieces and nephews will remember her with very fond memories.

Mary was a loyal and caring person who enjoyed music, dancing, and socializing with her many friends and family.  She was an avid reader of romance novels, enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and tatting.  Mary could be found many nights cheering on the Maple Leafs and Blue Jays.  Many winters were spent at her home in Florida enjoying the sunshine and palm trees.  Her evenings were filled with watching classic movies with John and playing Bingo and cards with friends. 

Mary will be held dear in the hearts of her family, friends, and to all who knew her.  She will be truly missed and remembered with a smile.  The family would like to thank the many healthcare providers at Winbourn Park in Ajax and Cedar Crest Manor in Markham for their exceptional care and friendship for Mary. You are greatly appreciated. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service is planned for a later date.  Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Dixon-Garland Funeral Home.
