Obituary of William Gordon Murison

MURISON William (Bill) 1927-2023

With sad hearts and gratitude for so many fond memories, we announce that William (Bill) Murison passed away peacefully on February 25, 2023, in his 96th year leaving behind an amazing life legacy.  He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, close friend, beloved mentor, and colleague to many.

Bill was born and raised in Cedar Grove, Ontario.  He met and married his high school sweetheart Vyla Latimer (d. 1960), built his home, started his career, and raised his four children, John, Marg (Maggie), Lynne, and Marie.  Bill was lucky in love a second time and married Sandy Fertile (d.2009) in 1965.  The family became very active members of the small, close-knit community.

After Graduating from the University of Toronto as a chemical engineer, Bill enjoyed a lifetime career with the International Group that spanned over 6 decades and led him and Sandy to live many happy years in Galveston Island.  Along with his family, his work gave his life pleasure and meaning.

Known for his tremendous work ethic, the reality was that Bill just loved his job.  At work, as in his private life, he demonstrated enthusiasm, dedication, and commitment to everything he did.  Never one to sit still, in his free time, he loved to travel with Sandy, enjoyed golfing, the beach, and dining out.

He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all who loved him.

Bill’s favourite charities were Sick Kids Hospital and The Kidney Foundation.  Donations to either cause in his honour would be greatly appreciated by the family.
