So many great memories of Cindy at Ashmead get togethers, camping/cottage vacations, her love of our animals, her shortbread cookies and amazing cakes - I could go on and on. But my first memory of Cindy is from my first Ashmead family party. Phil and I had only been dating a few months, and I was invited to a get together at Fred and Cindy’s. Cindy was the very first person I met when we arrived, and she was so kind and welcoming. I think she kept us in the kitchen (just us) for a few minutes to allow me to prepare for the craziness I was about to face! By the end of the night she was already asking Phil when we were getting married! :)
Much love always for my fellow Ashmead sister-in-law. And much love and support for Fred, Jamie, Greg, Brad and families. We’re always here for whatever you need.

Sending my love and support to Fred, Jamie and Greg and all their loved ones and the entire big Ashmead family. It took me a little bit of time to write on this site her memory but she has been in my thoughts daily. I have been filled with a lot of emotions remembering her. From sadness to a smile at some of those memories of her.
Cindy was a kind, caring person who was really good at taking care of people. Especially her cooking skills. She could also dish out the jokes as well as taking them in stride. As an extended family we did and do all poke fun of each other. Cindy had this way of speaking a thousand words with just a look. If she crossed her legs while she was sitting in her chair around a campfire and they started moving you knew she was having good time. Aside from all the laughs and the poking fun she could easily switch to a supportive role and caring to hear what you were doing in your life and always offered positive advice or care on just how you were getting on.
A specific memory comes to mind for me. We had all rented a cottage on a lake and all the boys had piled into a small 14 foot motor boat. There were eight of us! The boat was only a couple inches out of the water. We started out in the sunshine and spent the day drinking pops! and fishing. It started to get dark and no one had a flashlight nor a boat light. We didn't even know if we were on the right lake coming back. It was pitch black and you could not see anything! No one said anything because were guys but I think everyone might have been feeling a little bit nervous and Fred mentioned he would be in trouble when we got back. When we finally spotted the cottage feint light in the distance we headed towards it hoping it was ours. There Cindy was waiting on the dock with concerned anger. She was right it was really dumb to stay out that long. To me this was Cindy. she couldn't fully rest until she knew everyone in the family was safe.
I will miss you Cindy.

Dearest Fred and Family,
We are heartbroken and still in shock that we will no longer see Cindy's friendly smile and hear her warm greetings. You both have welcomed us to the neighborhood over 11 years ago with kindness. When we shared we were expecting, Cindy instantly offered to be our daughter's next door grandma. We will truly miss our driveway conversations.
Your family have suffered so much loss in the past few years. May the tears become less but the memories stay strong.
Please let us know if we can do anything for you.

I wish to extend my deepest condolences to the Ashmead family. I truly share your sorrow with Cindy's passing and send all of you love and hugs.
Cindy worked for me and with me for over 30 years at the Markham Veterinary Clinic. She was a tremendous asset to the clinic with the front desk skills she brought to the hospital. Cindy always greeted clients with a smile and showed great depths of compassion for them and their pets. However, Cindy was so much more than an employee. She was a friend to all of us, becoming the warm bright light of the clinic. "Grammie" was able to make all of us smile even at the toughest of times. For me, Cindy became one of my best friends and I loved her deeply. We had so many laughs together and enjoyed many fun times. I am broken hearted by her loss but will remember her always for the joy she brought to my life.

When my wife and I bought our first home in Markham back in 2006, we didn't know anyone at all. Cindy and Fred were the first people who greeted us to the neighborhood with a big smile and kind words. She always made us feel so welcome and at ease. We will miss you dear Cindy with all of our hearts and we send our deepest and most sincere condolences to Fred, Jamie and Greg.
May God bless her beautiful soul.

My condolences Fred,Jamie, Greg and families. I worked with Cindy many years ago at Markham Vet Clinic. I still remember my very first shift there, she introduced herself to me as Grammie. She had just found out she was going to be a grandma for the first time. Cindy had such a great sense of humour, she brought so much fun to work with her. It was always a challenge getting her to learn new computer protocols. I will miss her cheery smile and her zest for life.

to Fred, Jamie, Greg, and all of your families,
My sincere sympathies with the loss of your dear Cindy. I was shocked to hear of her sudden passing. We first met many many years ago when she was first hired at Markham Veterinary Clinic. Quickly fitting in with the staff and clients she was a bright spot in everyone's day. We worked together for several years and I always remember her kindness to everyone, her love of her family, her pets (at that time Pal), and her genuine good friendship. We hadn't seen each other much in the past few years but I know it would have been just like old times had we met on the street. Truly a lovely person. Your world will not be the same.

To the Ashmead family, we are so saddened by the loss of Cindy. She was known as "Grammi" to us and was always finding ways to have fun at Markham Veterinary Clinic. I will always remember her dressing up on Halloween and her delicious home cooking. Not only was she an animal lover and loyal employee, she was family. We are still shocked on the news of her passing and can't believe she is not a phone call away. Our deepest condolences to Fred and family. Love Lily and everyone at Markham Veterinary Clinic

I spent my early childhood growing up next to Cindy and Fred, They always treated me like their own family. Cindy always offered her help whenever she could. I couldn't ask for better people to grow up beside.
My favorite memory was how she would always give out a full can of coke for halloween. I would look forward to starting my halloween at their house.
My heart goes out to the family,
Love Jesse

Cindy was more than just a next door neighbor. She was the one who welcomed us to the neighborhood. She was the one who greeted us each day we met. She was the one who made us laugh at all the crazy weather in markham and she was the one who appreciated my tomato garden. Sadly we will miss the friendly face but rest assured we will never forget the beautiful person that lived next door to us. Rest assured we will bother fred just as much as we bothered you in the coming months of his grief to insure the memory of such a great person lives on in eternity. P.S. Fred you better start getting to like tomatoes.
Cindy rest in peace

It’s hard to imagine our lives without you now and life just doesn’t seem fair. You were such a loving wife, mother and grandmother and found joy in spending time with your family. I’ll always remember the special touches you added to everything you did. Whether it was baking something for someone’s birthday or cooking a wonderful dinner that we would all gather around to eat. This was what you loved and what made you happy. Just being with your Family. These are the memories that will last a lifetime and will be what we hold close for comfort during this difficult time. Cindy, I promise to take care of your son and love him with all my heart. I promise to carry on the same love and values in our family as you did in yours. I promise to never let Olivia forget what a wonderful, kind, and loving Gramma she had and how much you absolutely adored your little monkey. These are my promises to you. Your spirit will live on in us all and we will carry you in our hearts forever. We love you.
