I just learned of Bento's passing. I met him on a Napa trip in Rome. We sat at the same table and gave me advice as a young shop owner. I remember his wisdom and kind words to my family. Rest in Peace.

My deepest condolences to your entire family. The world has lost a special kind person, who always put others before him. I will miss Bento's calls just to catch up and talk about family and business. Bento was a member of the association and his contributions to helping organize media and get the local Television people out to see what we were doing as an Automotive association was greatly appreciated.
There is a void that no one else can fill. I will miss him.

Sr.Bento was well known to our family. My father in law Sabino Pereira also came from Portugal from the small village of Caranguejera and had a special relationship with him. Both families came to Toronto in the early 60’s. The Bento’s attended our wedding in 1986. We serviced many cars through Bento’s Auto over the years and always trusted his advice as many in the Portuguese community…He was a wonderful man and Toronto and the Portuguese community has lost a very special man. I last saw Sr. Bento about 2 years ago when he was here in the Niagara area and came to visit me in my home here…
May you rest in peace Sr. Bento. You are sadly missed…My condolences to the São Jose family in your time of grief. Know that you were blessed with a special husband and father…
Respectfully Gloria Damoff and Christian Pereira

I remember Sr.Bento when I was a little girl.My mother worked for him as an office manager, and with time my older brother as well.He actually worked at the gas station on Bathurst and College. Now that was way back.Growing up I remember hearing from my father the connection he had with Sr.Bento.Having had grown up in Africa, there were many passions, debates and opinions pertaining to the massive continent.I loved hearing their opinions, especially if they were different from eachother. Those were quite interesting. On occassion luncheons and dinners were a must between the duo.My dad lost a bestie and I, lost a second father.I'm going to miss hearing"be a good girl",or hearing your stories of Africa. My heart is so saddened that God took you away Sr.Bento.You are a jewel that was taken from many of us.One thing is for sure, nobody in the Portuguese/African community can nor will ever achieve what you have for the people.Near and far.Viva a Angola.Love always Natacha.
