Obituary of Edna Mary Thomas

Thomas, Edna Mary - Passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at the age of 94. She is now reunited with her late husband Robert (Bob) and son Edward (Teddy).  Edna will be sadly missed by her children Mary (Karl), Mark, Gord (Denise) and Martha. Proud grandmother of Brett, Kylie, Katie (James) and Robert, adoring great grandmother of Valerie. She is survived by brother Clarke (Olive-predeceased), brother-in law Jim (Jean), sister-in-law Doris (Don-predeceased) and her many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by sister-in-law Betty and husband Norm.

Edna was gifted with a beautiful singing voice and as a trained singer she was actively involved with weddings, concerts and the Presbyterian church choir. Edna’s love of gardening and nature was evident at her home in Markham where she raised her family with her husband Bob. She recently moved to her new residence at Douglas Crossing, accompanied by her beloved cat Sammy. It was here that Edna became an avid Toronto Maple Leafs fan, always anticipating game night and discussing the outcome the following day at lunch. Known for her laughter amongst her dear friends, she had an ability to find humour in all of life’s challenges.

A memorial visitation will take place on Friday, May 26th, 2023 at the Dixon-Garland Funeral Home, 166 Main Street North, Markham, ON, (905) 294-2030 from 10am until 12pm. A service to celebrate the life and legacy of Edna will take place in the Dixon-Garland Chapel at 12 o'clock noon followed by a reception in the Funeral Home Reception Centre. If desired, donations in Edna's memory may be made to Canadian Diabetes Association and would greatly be appreciated by the family.
