Trudy, I first knew Lyal through you and through your eyes. Before I ever met him I was aware what a wonderful man and great brother he was was. When I did finally meet him it was on one of the Diversified shows and he was as pleasant, gracious and calm as you had portrayed him to be.
I know how close the two of you were and can only imagine the void this loss has created for you.
Please know that Monica, Theresa and I are thinking of you during this difficult time and hoping that the love of family and friends will give you some measure of comfort.

I remember as clearly as if it were yesterday, the evening of Sunday, Sept 1st, 1991 — it was the day I met Lyal. It was my first visit to Canada, the last day of the CNE, I remember I'd never seen a sky as clear and blue as that day and I had never met a kinder and more gracious man than Lyal.
Happy days!
Over the years, Lyal became my Canadian "brother". He helped me appreciate jazz, introduced me to the Mac Plus, showed me how to create slides, how to fish and explained to me all those things under the bonnet.
His passing is a devastating loss to our family, I don't know how we will recover.
His sense of humour was one of a kind and life won't be the same without him.

Lyal, it has been a pleasure to have known you. You have been taken from us far to early and will be dearly mi.ssed by all.. We've had many, many enjoyable talks lasting for hours on end. You taught me about your passion for cars especially your TR6 which you did a compete roistisary. One of your latest additions were new tires, rims and Webb carborators. You loved this car and drove it whenever possible. I couId see the emotional excitement in your'face and voice when you were driving. were driving and talking to fellow enthusiasts about your car. The depths you went to when you detailed your car g:etting it ready for drives and shows. You would spend countless hours and days with no sleep working on your vehicles mainly the TR6. You were past President of the Mini Club, hence why you owed a newer Mini. This passion for cars took you to the TR6. You still have your teenage BMW 325. Covids Years changed alot of driving the cars and participating in the local shows. But cars shows opened up with car meets in 2022. Your passion for getting out and talk to 'the car guys' was where you wanted to be. We spent endless hours working on our cars together and discussing the future. On Our latest talks we were discussing plans for Spring 2023. Lyal I will never know someone like you again, and when we meet up again (on the other side) we will catch up where we left off.
Your Friend Always,
Steven Craib

Lyal joined Toronto Triumph Club in 2008 however I did not personally know him. Lyal was a regular visitor to British Car Day in his red TR6 and attended our virtual AGM in November. Lyal was also a member of the Thornhill Cruisers. Our thoughts go out to his family and friends at this difficult time.

It's hard to believe that Lyal has passed away. It feels like it was just yesterday that we were talking about all the cool cars he collected. He had that subtle sense of humor you could easily miss. I always remember thinking I about getting a beer with Lyal to get to know him better. I can't imagine how difficult this is for Trudy, Peter, Tyler and Samantha. I send my deepest condolences to the family during this very difficult time. May he rest in peace.

It still seems impossible that Lyal has left us so suddenly. I think of all the many years of working together on various projects, the friendship that it led to and how it went even beyond that to feeling very much like a member of the family. And that says a lot because, to Lyal, his family was everything. Trudy, I hope it brings comfort knowing that Lyal understood how deeply loved he was by you. I wish, truly, that we could all have enjoyed Lyal and the good times we shared for many more years but I am grateful that we do have so many memories of exactly that - hard work, wonderful accomplishments and lots of laughs. Sending sincere condolences to you, Peter, Tyler and Samantha.

I'm so grateful for my cherished memories with Lyal. I was blessed to have his fantastic talent make our events shine on many occasions. Watching the Trudy and Lyal team in action at events, over dinner, or just hanging out was always special. I wished I had a brother and sister like these two. Flirting with Lyal was a favourite past-time of mine. He would turn red and look at Trudy giving her a look that screamed, make her stop. We loved to laugh.
My heart broke when I heard that Lyal got his wings. I know that he will look over Trudy and the kids with his loving and protective spirit.
Much love,
Melanie

There was always a twinkle in his eye when we were working on a conference together no matter what detail we were discussing or debating; I’m pretty sure that twinkle was there whenever he was enjoying what he was doing. Working with Lyal was always a great experience, his talent, his care, his creativity, and more were keys to the success we shared. Lyal’s sense of humour was memorable and no matter how much time had passed between events, there was always a warm familiarity when we got together again focussed on the task at hand. Trudy, our hearts go out to you and the family. The love between sister and brother is precious, you two have an incredible connection that will live on forever in your heart. Let all the memories you’ve collected blanket you like a warm hug. Lyal will continue to be close by in all you do, he’ll give you strength when you least expect it my dear friend. Sending love to you, Peter, Tyler, and Samantha.
Here for you always.
Love and hugs

I hold many memories dear of the years that Lyal and I enjoyed together. The custom black chevy van, with all the latest tech for the 70's, the Fire Bug VW Beetle with the coolest custom paint job! Music and friends, camping and cottaging at Westpine. Flying model airplanes, riding motorcycles. We were young and full of adventure. So many years have past, I don't want to count, but when I look through my old photos it feels like yesterday. Trudy my heart is with you, Lyal will always be with you, his soul and presence is strong and lasting. He will continue to be beside you with Mom and Dad always watching over you. xo Cheryl

Dear Trudy, Tyler, Samantha
I was saddened by the news of Lyle's passing. A truly wonderful person gone, alone, as he lived his life.
A perfect thought would be, he should still be.
But no, time had a different thought.
It was his time, to call on mom's new place.
Once again, they will meet face to face.
Together they will plan, design and decorate the grandest theatre of all.
I feel your pain, yet I could not know, the loss of a dearest brother, uncle, friend, that Lyle was.
Take time to know your grief. It too, will be brief.
Standing with you I see, Tyler and Samantha making three.
I have such fond memories, as they once sat upon my knee.
Grown now with love to share, your triumvirate will bare the brunt and carry the cross to a higher state, than held in your loss.
Though I am not near, there is a spot within my heart for three. There always will be.
If there is a time you wish to share, your burden now, or memories from the past, please call.
All my love Trudy, Tyler, Samantha.
Love and Cheers,
Lloyd

Lyal's Georges Vanier friends are saddened by his passing, but cherish the fond memories of his contributions to the Vanier bands. He was the anchor to the award winning Vanier Stage Band in 1975 and 1976, playing lead trumpet. In the Canadian Stage Band Finals in 1976, Lyal was selected as a member of the National All Star Band.garnering the attention of jazz greats such as Phil Nimmons, Tommy Banks and Chuck Mangione. His legacy lives on in the recordings made during those years. The Vanier musical family owes much to 'Mofish'. Thank you, Lyal.
