Obituary of Betty Reid

It is with deep sadness that we are announcing that our beloved Betty passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday October 30, 2022 at the age of 92. The family is thankful to the reminiscence team at Sunrise of Unionville for the love and care they provided her through the last year of her life.  Betty is predeceased by the love of her life, Victor to whom she was married for 71 years.  She leaves behind her children, Stephen and his wife Sandra, Sandra and her husband Reid, David and his wife Barb.  “Gramma” will be dearly missed by her grandchildren, Lynsey (her husband James), Kimberly (her husband Phil), Nicole (her husband Chris), Krystal, Alexander, Corey, Stacey (her fiancé John) and her great-grandchildren Lily and Shea.  Betty was known for her green thumb and her garden which was once showcased by The Markham Horticultural Society. It was a place of joy for her family and friends. She was a long-time member of the Markham Fitness Center, where she attended Aquafit until the age of 89. Betty and her husband Vic were also members of the Markham Senior’s Club and played bid-euchre there for many years.  For decades, both were involved with the Ontario 5-Pin Bowling Association with Betty being inducted as a founding member. Betty’s wonderful nature, laughter, love of life and family will never be forgotten.  She will be in our hearts forever.

Family, friends, and others who were touched by the lives of Betty and Vic are invited to attend a celebration of life on Sunday December 4, 11:00 am at Dixon-Garland Funeral Home, 166 Main St N, Markham.
