Obituary of Ronald M. Conrad
Ronald M. Conrad, 81, of Stouffville passed away on August 22, 2022.
Ronald was born in Arlington Heights, Illinois on July 19, 1941, to Juanita and Reuben Conrad. He graduated from Bluffton College, Ohio, and worked as a Professor at Ryerson University for 30 years while writing his groundbreaking textbooks, The Act of Writing and The Canadian Writing Workbook. He enjoyed canoe trips, gardening, and sabbatical years in Québec City and Seville, Spain. Ronald is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Smucker Conrad, his brother Alan (Susukha) Conrad, and his children Suzanne (Lindsay) McWhinnie, Charles (Donna) Conrad, Katherine (Peter) Koven, and grandchildren Adele, Natalie, Eric, Claire, Leah, Julia, and Henry.
Visitation will occur on Saturday, August 27 from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm at Dixon-Garland Funeral Home, 166 Main Street North, Markham, followed by a funeral service at the same location from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm. Donations may be made in Ronald's memory to Parkinson Canada or Mennonite Central Committee Canada.
