Obituary of Roy Arthur Koehler
Never Forgetten, Forever Loved...
Roy Koehler passed away at the age of 84 on August 4, 2022 in Unionville, Ontario. A private family service was held August 13, 2022 at the Elmwood Cemetery in Markham, Ontario. Roy is survived by his beloved wife Gayle, children David and Susan and their spouses Joanna and Michael, and his grandchildren Alexander, Natasha, Adam and Vanessa. Roy was born in Kitchener, Ontario to Gwendolyn and Arthur Koehler and had one sibling, Alan (d. 2009). Roy grew up in London, Ontario and was fascinated early in life with both science and music, playing trumpet in numerous orchestras and bands as a young man. His love of science led him to receive Bachelors and Masters degrees from Western University and he joined the faculty of Science at York University in 1965 as an Assistant Professor of Physics. Roy remained at York University, serving 9 years as the Associate Dean of Science, until his retirement in 2003. Roy spent his retirement pursuing his hobby of photography and travelling the world with Gayle. He will be dearly missed by his family, colleagues and friends.
