Obituary of Jonathan Benjamin Ross
It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Jonathan Ross in his 41st year.
He is survived by his wife Lilian, parents Bob and Lynn Ross, his sister Allison (Matt) and niece Hazel. He will be missed by his Aunts and Uncles, many cousins and friends. Jonathan lived in China and Cambodia for a few years but has spent much of the last fifteen years teaching English in Brazil. He inspired many of his friends and family to travel off the beaten track and visit him in those countries. He loved the beaches and cycling paths of Rio de Janeiro and while in Canada he enjoyed canoe trips in Algonquin Park. Jonathan was a kind, adventurous free spirit who will be greatly missed.
A visitation will be held in memory of Jonathan on Sunday, May 15, 2022 at Dixon Garland Funeral Home, 166 Main Street North, Markham, from 10am-12pm. A Celebration of Life Service to follow at 12pm. Family has requested that those who wish to come and pay their respects please wear a mask.
The service will be livestreamed for anyone who is unable to attend, accessible here. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army or the Markham Food Bank.
