Leah Prizeman

Obituary of Leah Prizeman

With great sadness, the family announces the passing of Leah Agnes Prizeman on February 22nd, 2022, in her 86th year. Leah was always described as loyal, generous, devoted, ambitious, and quick witted, but most of all she was dedicated to her family. She leaves behind her daughter Suzanne, Suzanne's partner Micheal, her son Shawn, and daughter-in-law Susan, as well as her grandchildren Meaghan, Melissa, Emma, and Jack. She will also be missed by her sister Loraine, nephew Corey, his wife Amanda, and their children Payton, Zachary, and Matthew.

Leah grew up in lower east Toronto (Riverdale) and dedicated her youth to girl guides and in her later guiding years was the Guide Commissioner for Scarborough. It is this endeavour that led her to meet her late husband, Scout Master Hugh. They were married for 56 years, filled with travelling, antiquing, raising their family, and a love that never wavered.

Leah was known for her sewing and knitting, making bridesmaid dresses, baby clothes, and multiple Halloween costumes. She had a passion for gardening, hosting parties with many neighbours and friends, and extended travelling.

Leah was loved by many, including a number of her closest friends (Green’s, Cardy’s Rowan’s, Nash’s Elliott’s, Bloom’s and so many more), all of whom contributed to some of her fondest memories, greatest laughs, and endless love and support.

Leah dedicated her life to family. She was especially proud of her children, and her grandchildren. She was happiest when she was surrounded by family. This was a constant throughout her life and it is an important value she passed on to all those that survive her.
