Obituary of Wilmer Roy DeForest
DEFOREST, Wilmer Roy
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Wilmer Roy DeForest in his 89th year at Hill House Hospice. Loving husband to Ina for 59 wonderful years. Beloved father to Warren and his wife Josie and Lorraine and her husband Kevin. Incredibly proud grandfather to his four grandchildren Jessica, Peter, Kyle and Kurt.
Wilmer lived his life with a focus on others. His generosity was boundless and with all he touched, he took pride in making sure others were better for the time. When time was getting short and he was reflecting on his life, he smiled as he looked around, surrounded by his family. He said, “My greatest accomplishments are in this room and that is something to be proud of”.
Wilmer was a long-time employee of Griffith Foods (Laboratories) with over 45 years of service in many areas of the business. After retirement his direction turned to wood working. All of his grandchildren grew up surrounded by his creations from beds to dressers to rocking horses. It was a way to share himself with his family.
We would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Andrew Patterson and his team at Evergreen Hospice for his early care and to Dr. Brian Berger and the team at Hill House Hospice for the fantastic care they took of Wilmer in his last days.
A private graveside service will be held at Grace Anglican Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hill House Hospice.
