This is very belated, but I wish to send condolences to Margi and the family. Richard and I knew George as apartment neighbours in 1971 at Thorncliffe Park in Toronto. We are fortunate to have several pieces of George’s art, which take pride of place in my apartment in Sidney BC. Richard left us in August 2021. I would like to imagine he and George sharing a joke over a glass of scotch, wherever they are.... Submitted bu Gina Atkinson

STAO is a remarkable organization that makes a significant contribution to science and STEM education in Ontario. George Huff -through his leadership, his extensive knowledge and wisdom, and his incredible artistic contributions -played a major role in its success. I always appreciated his wise counsel during my time on STAO as well as his wonderful sense of humour and his positive outlook. He was a great role model for all of us and will be remembered as a passionate and caring educator.

The Science Teachers' Association of Ontario was heartbroken to hear of George's passing last week. As a Past President and Life Member of the organization, he will be missed by our members. We are so blessed to count George as a member and to have been able to share with him his passions for science education and art. We were blessed for many years to have access to his artwork, which was shared with our volunteers and award winners in a variety of forms. STAO has made a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in George's memory. Our sincere condolences go out to George's family. Rest in peace George.

I had the pleasure of meeting George through Margi. I appreciated his calm, level headed advice when I first moved to Canada and was applying for the Toronto Board and then his teaching advice in general. As I recently told both Margi and George, he was the first person I’ve ever seen BBQ in the snow. ‘That’s commitment !’ I thought, as he put on his snow boots and trudged out to the deck. As I got to know George more I realised he was fully committed to everything he did, whether it be teaching, painting, cooking. He was kind, fun, so generous and so wonderful to those in his life. My love to Margi, Regan, Keith, Cori, Joe, the grand kids and his other family.

On behalf of the former employees of the Scarborough Board of Education, I wish to express deepest sympathy to Margi and George's family. Our thoughts and prayers are for all those who mourn this personal loss and are experiencing a time of profound sadness.
During his leadership in the Scarborough public school system, George was highly regarded as the ultimate professional. His dedication in his work as a system-wide Coordinator was respected and appreciated. Because of his positive manner and interpersonal skills, it was always a pleasure to interact with George. It is a blessing to have known him.
The Reverend Earl Campbell

Margi - my thoughts are with you and your family. I knew Gorge through STAO and I learned a lot about setting up program cards and invites for our annual celebration luncheon at STAO conferences. It was a pleasure to work with George on those tasks. We visited your home a couple of times and had the pleasure of George giving us a tour of both his artwork and what he had collected. His reputation extended to the printing staff at Staples - I would go in with my notes that I had made with George's help and the staff would recognize George's handiwork. l live just around the corner, on Barker Court. My daily walks during these last 18 months often took me past your home. I was delighted to see the signs celebrating George's 80th birthday! George will be missed. Gerrie Storr (also a Past President of STAO).

More than a decade ago Margi and George ventured down south to visit John and me in Australia. We had fun exploring around our home in South east Queensland then decided to drive 100kms to Sydney, down Highway 1, before they flew home. Along the way we visited many coastal towns with their delightful golden beaches and rocky headlands and George was able to try out his surfing skills. As we drove through a forest of tall ancient eucalypts I noticed George busily photographing them through the glass roof of the car but when I offered to pull over for his photo moments he said he loved trying to catch the different perspectives through the roof. That exemplified George for me, with his ability to meld his scientific eye with the aesthetic vision of an artist. His gift to me was to teach me to see the world differently. So from so far away I sadly must farewell this lovely man who will dwell in so many memories and images now. Robyn Stewart, Queensland, Australia.
